Three related research tasks were proposed to examine components of the natural variability of the climate system and how that variability
relates to concentrations of carbon oxides for global and regional assessments. This proposal is supportive of the regional climate change in the southeast and contributes
to knowledge of the global CO2 Budget.
Task1: We examined the natural Variability of the climate of the southeastern U.S and its reproducibility in several GCMs. We
assesses the utility and appropriateness of GCM output in terms of their use in ecosystem
Modeling.
Task2: The second task's Objective is to determine the relationship between temperature/winds and COx
(CO2 and CO) concentrations for global and regional variations.
Task3. The objective of the third task utilized Christy who serves as a collaborator with Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL)
personnel entitled "Global Cycle Implications of Terrestrial Ecosystem Responses to changing Environmental Conditions".
One of the experiments involved execution of the terrestrial model of carbon production utilizing our satellite temperatures as
a key forcing variable. The portion of the ORNL research with which we were to cooperate involved the transient simulation
of the model sensitivity to our satellite temperature input, and the fidelity of the results in comparison with observations.
